What is a bifold door?

Wooden bifold doors are a versatile and space-saving solution that effortlessly combines style with practicality. They have become an increasingly popular door option due to their unique folding mechanisms. Unlike traditional doors that swing open, bifold doors fold in sections, creating a compact and accessible entryway.

Our meticulously crafted folding patio doors are designed to enhance your living space, providing seamless transitions to your outdoor area and allowing natural light to fill your interiors. Discover the perfect blend of form and function with our stunning range of wooden bifold doors.

How do folding doors work?

Bifold doors operate on a simple yet effective folding mechanism. Wooden folding doors consist of a series of panels, typically two or more, joined together by hinges. The number of panels can vary based on the width of the opening and design preferences. These hinged panels then run on top and bottom tracks to help guide their movement. The top track supports the weight of the doors and ensures smooth gliding, while the bottom track stabilises the panels.

Each glass panel is connected to the adjacent one by pivot points. These pivot points allow the panels to fold and pivot smoothly as the door is opened or closed. When the bifold door is opened, the panels fold inward along the hinges and stack neatly against one another.

Features of bifold wooden doors

Wooden folding doors add a touch of natural warmth and elegance to any space. The rich textures and grains of wood create a timeless and visually appealing look that can complement both contemporary and traditional architectural styles and interior designs.

Bifold doors are versatile in their configurations, allowing for a customisable opening width. From inward or outward openings, left or right openings, to openings that split in opposite directions, this flexibility makes folding doors suitable for a variety of spaces.

All of our doors are designed with engineered wood, which means that it is multi-layered. This multi-layered structure resists any warping or twisting that can cause the wood to swell and stick after experiencing wet weather. This ensures our bi-folding doors are built to last and will make your purchase cost-effective over its lifetime.

We use minimal plastics to create a product that is as sustainable as possible. This means our bi-folding doors are much more eco-friendly than others on the market.
