“The response from neighbours and passers-by has been phenomenal” Mr and Mrs Fox-Partridge explain about the impact of their home’s transformation.
Their 1840’s early Victorian period home in Macclesfield, Cheshire needed a major upgrade not only aesthetically, but for practicality reasons too. The couple explain, “Our lounge used to be unusable due to the cold and draughts from the window…”.
Now, Mr and Mrs Fox-Partridge have been treated to gorgeous, new sash windows and a spectacular new front door.
When designing their home’s new features, it was important to the couple that the authenticity of the house was maintained, “We wanted to keep the integrity of the house and therefore using timber frames, and period features was our main priority – we hate uPVC.”.
To achieve this, we installed our wooden sash windows which would have been a traditional design at the time the house was built, finished in ‘French Grey’ externally and ‘Smoke Cream’ internally. Brass ironmongery finishes were also fitted on every sash window, and ‘Gothic Amber’ etched glass features were included in the bathroom. The couple’s new Frenchay style wooden front door was finished in ‘Harewood Grey’ externally with ‘Smoke Cream’ internally to match the interior windows.
Smaller design features included Antique Brass Unlacquered ironmongery from Samuel Heath and a brand new toplight on the front door. Additionally, the original stained glass found on the entrance door was retained, and encapsulated within the new glazing units, which created a breath-taking, colourful design.
Since the re-design, Mr and Mrs Fox-Partridge have found that their home’s kerb appeal has improved immensely amongst neighbours and visitors. The couple comment, “We have had numerous people comment on how wonderful our house looks, and how in keeping the windows are.”
