Mr and Mrs Brogdan had only one aim when it came to updating their Victorian home, “we wanted to get it back to how it should be…”.
Though their house had origins dating back to 1812 and was filled with rich history, new modifications had taken away the character the home once had. Originally, Mr and Mrs Brogdan’s home would’ve been designed with sash windows, but recent alterations meant uPVC tilt and turn windows had been fitted, which were unsuitable for the style of the house.
As a result, Mr and Mrs Brogdan sought out Timber Windows to help improve the aesthetic of their home. The couple requested new wooden windows which would better reflect the era of their home, as well as new wooden French doors as their current doors obstructed the view to their outside area.
After consulting with our team and visiting our showroom, Mr and Mrs Brogdan decided on slim box sash windows and French doors, in a sleek Off-White colour and with 18mm astragal bars. When it came to door furniture, every sash window was fitted with Oil Rubbed Bronze ironmongery and the French doors were fitted with Bronze finished handles from Samuel Heath.
When the project was completed, Mr and Mrs Brogdan were blown away with how their new windows and door changed their home, “We knew it would be an improvement but were actually surprised by quite how much of a difference it has made to the look and feel of our house.”
Not only have the couple benefitted aesthetically from the major design improvement, but from a practical perspective, they have also seen massive benefits too. Living on a reasonably busy main road, Mr & Mrs Brogdan were often disturbed by noise on a daily basis. Since the installation of their new double-glazed windows and French doors, these disturbances have reduced significantly, “lots of heavy vehicles pass by here and used to cause the old windows to rattle; it’s surprising how much difference the windows have made, particularly in our bedroom.”
Overall, Mr & Mrs Brogdan were incredibly happy with the work carried out by the Timber Windows team.

“The new French doors are wonderful, they’ve made so much difference – the old doors were wood, but they had many bars that obstructed the view; now we have a much better outlook and the room feels much lighter too”.
